A member of Reaction Unit South Africa who is in a critical condition at a local hospital after he was attacked by armed suspects believed to be a revenge attack.
38 year old Sipho Mbazini who was off duty was attacked by several suspects in Phoenix, KZN at approx 17:45 on the evening of 14 August 2018. The armed men forced the Officer to the ground, dragged him to a nearby canal and attempted to kill him by stabbing him in the head.
They then left him for dead and fled the scene. The injured Officer then dragged himself out of the canal and contacted the RUSA Operations Center in Phoenix via a handset radio. Reaction Officers and Paramedics were despatched to the scene and stabilized Mbazini before transporting him to hospital.
Reaction Officers are currently searching for the suspects.
