On 13 December 2021, police officers from the Provincial Organised Crime Unit embarked on an operation as part of our Safer Festive Season Operations in Durban and surrounding areas.

They had received information about drugs that were retained in a building on Anton Lembede Street.

The team proceeded to the identified apartment where they found 2.1 million empty capsules sealed in clear plastic bags and heroin powder. The capsules were destined for packing and distribution of heroin in the Durban Metro area.

The recovered drugs have an estimated value of R400 000-00.

The police are still searching for the suspects.

Disruptive operations are still on-going and the community in the province should expect more police visibility.
