About 200 students from the University of KwaZulu-Natal took to the streets in central Durban on Monday to protest ‎against their living conditions.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said that the protests took place on Yusuf Dadoo Street (formerly Grey Street) on Monday morning.

He said the road was ‎blocked with stones and burning tyres.

“We can confirm the protest. They are complaining about poor living conditions,” he said.

He said police were monitoring the situation, but that no arrests or injuries had been reported.

Comment could not immediately be obtained from the university.
