Possible drug overdose: Woman dies in Phoenix guest lodge

A 26 year old woman was found dead in a room at a guest lodge in Phoenix, KZN on Monday 1 October 2018. At approximately 20:35 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the premises after receiving a call from employees at the business requesting assistance for a customer who was bleeding from her nose.

Upon arrival the female was found lying on the floor of a room. Medics assessed her and found that she had demised prior to arrival of first responders.

According to her boyfriend he had picked up his girlfriend from her home on Litchi Crescent in Brindhaven at approximately 02:00 this morning. He is employed as a taxi driver in the same area. The two booked into the guest lodge shortly afterwards.

During the course of the day the two consumed alcohol and snorted cocaine. The female became disoriented and eventually unresponsive when her boyfriend called for assistance. She is believed to have died of a drug overdose however this can only be confirmed following a post mortem.

SAPS Officials are on scene and are investigating further.
