On the night of 12 September 2021, at 19:30, the complainant spotted a suspect, who allegedly stole his vehicle the previous week, inside a vehicle at Harding Main Road in Boboyi.

The victim and his friends approached the suspects and an altercation ensued. One of the suspects pulled his firearm and fired shots at the victim. He sustained injuries on the lower body and was taken to hospital for medical attention. A case of attempted murder was opened at Port Shepstone SAPS for investigation.

The Port Shepstone K9 Unit followed up on the incident as the description of two vehicles were given to them.

As they arrived at Paddock, they spotted a suspicious vehicle entering a service station with three occupants. The said vehicle was searched and the suspects were found in possession of two firearms, 32 rounds of ammunition and 100 capsules of heroin.

Three suspects aged between 22 and 31 were placed under arrest for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition as well as possession of drugs.

The suspects are appearing before the Port Shepstone Magistrates Court.
