On 13 December 2020, at 12:00, the KwaMsane police officers were on duty doing patrols along N2 highway, when they spotted a maroon vehicle with no rear number plates. They followed the said vehicle but the driver sped off upon seeing the police officers. They then gave chase and alerted the other police stations to be on the lookout at Bhobosa bridge N2 highway.

The police stopped the said vehicle with four male occupants and a search was conducted. Upon searching the vehicle, the police found bags full of 50 cellphones, two firearms with 11 rounds of ammunition. The suspects were then placed under arrest and they were charged for possession of a suspected stolen property.

While the police were busy with the investigation, they received a phone call from Pongola police station reporting that the arrested suspects were involved in a business robbery that took place at Pongola business premises where cellphones were stolen.
