A policeman was hijacked and taken with his vehicle on Wednesday morning from outside his home in Parkgate, Verulam.
At approx 06:06 Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from the victims family informing of a hijacking and kidnapping.
Upon arrival on the scene on Greenwood Close, Parkgate, reaction Officers were informed that the Off duty Verulam Detective was hijacked when he moved his vehicle from the driveway to allow a second family car to leave the yard.
Armed suspects then accosted the driver, shoved him into the vehicle and drove off.
RUSA and SAPS Members combed the area in search of the victim.
The vehicle was spotted traveling at high speed on the Umdloti Beach Road.
The victim was later located in N Section, Umlazi by Tracker and SAPS and the vehicle was also recovered.
