Police in KwaZulu-Natal have seized counterfeit goods with an estimated street value of R400 million at a freight depot in Edwin Swales, south of Durban. The discovery was made on Tuesday during a routine cargo profiling operation.

Authorities identified two containers fraudulently declared to be carrying furniture. Instead, the containers were found to be stocked with counterfeit designer clothing, jewellery, and kitchenware. Preliminary investigations reveal that the containers originated from an Asian country and were destined for Alberton and central Johannesburg in Gauteng Province.

Police spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend suspects involved in the illegal importation of the counterfeit goods. No arrests have been made yet.
