On 5 April 2018, a multidisciplinary operation by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit members, Pietermaritzburg Highway Patrol, Kranskop Detectives and other units was conducted at Mambulu, Mphise and KwaMxhosa areas in the Kranskop area.
The members went to different homesteads at the mentioned areas where they arrested three suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The team managed to recover a total of five unlicensed firearms which comprises of two AK47, a 9mm pistol, a revolver with an assortment of ammunition. The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing. The operations are still continuing throughout the KZN province.
