One man was killed and another critically injured in the early hours on Monday after a shooting incident outside a nightclub on FJ Sithole Road in Pietermaritzburg, said ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring in a brief statement.
Russel said paramedics received a call alerting them of the shooting from a clinic based opposite the nightclub.
“Upon arrival, paramedics found that clinic staff were busy treating both men,” said Russel.
“ER24 assessed both men and found that one man had already succumbed to his multiple gunshot wounds. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene.
“The second man was found with numerous gunshot wounds, leaving him in a critical condition.”
Russel said treatment and numerous advanced life support interventions were initiated on the patients before he was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Police were on the scene and were investigating.
