On 17 December 2019, at 10:30, Phoenix police officers were busy conducting festive season operations at Palmview Drive in Phoenix when they spotted a suspicious vehicle.
The vehicle was stopped whilst driving along Palmview Drive and upon searching the vehicle, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen in KwaMashu. A 24 year old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of a suspected stolen property. He will appear in the Verulam Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged on 29 June 2019 at 23:00, the complainant parked his vehicle along Bhejane Road in KwaMashu with the windows and doors locked. On the following morning he noticed that his vehicle was nowhere to be seen. A case of theft of motor vehicle was opened at KwaMashu SAPS for further investigation.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the police officers for the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of the suspect.
