A Blue Security armed response officer working closely together with the police arrested a female Phoenix housebreaker on 5 May 2017.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said an armed response officer had responded to the scene of the incident in Portham Place where he found a lounge window had been broken and the burglar bars bent in. The incident occurred at around 1.30pm.

“When he realised that one of the suspects was still in the house, he immediately contacted our control centre who request police assistance at the scene. The owner also arrived at the scene and opened up so that the officers could search the premises,” he said. “Our officer found a female suspect hiding in the property, arrested her and handed her over to the Phoenix SAPS at the scene. It is unclear how many suspects were involved in the incident at this stage.”

Items reported stolen included a cellphone, cash, brassware and a haircut machine.

In a separate incident on Saturday morning a robber forced his way into a property in Fullpalm Grove where he accosted a resident inside the house. “A scuffle broke out and the robber fled the scene only to be arrested by one of our patrolling armed response officers,” Mathios said.

Mathios said the suspect was handed over to the Phoenix SAPS who attended the scene of the arrest.
