An unidentified man has been killed after he was run over on Hazelmere Road in Canelands, Verulam.

At approximately 17:12 on 9 July 2018, members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by a member of public reporting the incident. Upon arrival the man’s body was found lying across the road.

Medics assessed him and found that he had sustained an extensive head injury which resulted in his death at the scene. A wheelbarrow and a bag containing used metal cans were found next to the deceased.

The vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene.
