Panga wielding robbers tie up woman at factory ,Tongaat robbery

A Hyundai i10 that was taken by armed suspects during a robbery on Plein Street in Tongaat was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South Africa.

At approximately 13:45 Reaction Officers were dispatched to the home after receiving reports of an armed robbery. Upon arrival it was established that 6 suspects had entered a clothing factory which was operating on the property and held up staff and the owner.

One suspect was armed with a firearm and his accomplices were in possession of knives and pangas. The armed men tied up the victims who were all female. They then ransacked their handbags and stole money and cellphones. The suspects then broken into an outbuilding on the property in search of valuables. They then fled the scene in a Hyundai i10 belonging to one of the victims.

The vehicle was fitted with a tracking device from Tracker and was emitting signals from the Tongaat Central Business District (CBD). Officers tracked the vehicle and recovered it abandoned on an unpaved road next to Watson Park Stadium in Tongaat.

An extensive search was conducted for the suspects however no arrests were made.
