A 20-year-old Pakistani national, one of three men shot during a violent robbery in Mountview on Monday, 26 May 2025, has succumbed to his injuries.
The incident unfolded after Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received reports of a robbery in progress at a residence and business premises on Katzkop Drive. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers discovered that three men operating a salon on the property had been robbed of their valuables by three balaclava-clad gunmen.
The suspects then forced the victims into a bedroom, instructing them to lie on the floor side by side. The assailants bound the men’s hands with cable ties, placed a pillow on their backs, and shot them at close range.
Despite his injuries, the deceased managed to walk out of the house and call for help before collapsing. All three victims were rushed to a local hospital before being transferred to a specialist facility for further treatment.
Tragically, the youngest victim, the 20-year-old Pakistani national, passed away in the hospital on Wednesday, 04 June 2025. His body was flown back to Pakistan for burial on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the second victim remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while the third man has since been discharged from the hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the shooting, and no arrests have been reported at this time.
