Operation netts 3 drug dealers in separate incidents, Durban

Three suspects are expected to appear at three separate courts, facing charges for dealing and possession of drugs. They were arrested during operations help by various police units in the province on 10 September 2019. These operations are aimed at reducing the use and dealing of drugs in the Province.

The first intelligence driven operation was conducted yesterday at Montclair, following up on information with regards to drugs. An identified place was searched and a 43 year old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of cocaine and crystal meth to the street value of R57 000-00. Drugs were seized for further investigation. The arrested suspect will appear in the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court.

The second suspect was arrested at Tongaat after police officers searched a man who was carrying a bag. His bag was searched and police found that it contained straws of whoonga to the street value of R7 000-00. The arrested suspect (24) will appear at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court.

The last suspect was arrested at KwaDukuza for possession of drugs. Police officers were conducting crime prevention duties when they followed up intelligence with regards to dealing in drugs outside a tavern in the KwaDukuza CBD.

When the suspect noticed police, he attempted to flee but he was caught and searched. A 25 year old man was found in possession of 299 capsules of heroin to the street value of R7 000-00. R620-00 in cash, suspected to be the proceeds of drug trade, was also seized from him. He will appear at the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court.
