A boy, believed to be 17-years-old, was killed and another boy, also believed to be 17-years-old, was left injured following a hit-and-run incident on Edendale Road in Henley Dam, KwaZulu-Natal.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 14h00 to find another service already in attendance.

On closer inspection, medics found the two patients lying down a small embankment some distance away from the road.

Medics assessed the patients and found that one boy had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.

Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

The second boy was assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. He was treated and thereafter transported to hospital by another service.

The vehicle that had struck the two boys was not found on the scene.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
