Northdene Domestic Worker Escapes 4 Suspects Posing as Police

A swift response from a quick-thinking domestic employee resulted in potential house robbers abandoning their attempt and fleeing a property in Northdene on Thursday morning.

“The incident occurred just after 10.30am when the Blue Security control centre received a panic alert and despatched two units to the scene,” Mathios said. “On arrival, five minutes later, they were met by the housekeeper who told them that four armed men had gained access to the property. She was confronted by the gang when she responded to a knock at the front door,” he said.

“Thinking the knock was from someone working in the yard she opened the door to be confronted by the suspects dressed in orange-and-yellow reflector jackets who said they were from the police,” he said. “They identified themselves as policemen, saying they had information that the owner of the house was dealing in drugs,” he said.

“When the housekeeper told them that the owner wasn’t at home one suspect reacted by kicking the door. They then held up the maid and manhandled her by twisting her hand,” he said. “Fortunately the housekeeper was able to reach the panic button on the wall during the struggle. The suspects fled when the panic alarm was activated,” he said.

“The suspects fled in a white VW golf 7 with no number plate. No shots were fired and nothing was taken during the incident,” he said. “Blue Security armed response officers arrived five minutes later but there was no sign of the suspects. Malvern SAPS also attended the scene. Investigations are continuing,” he said.
