Provincial Firearm and Drug Unit with K9 Unit arrested a 36 year old suspect for dealing in drugs. The suspect was arrested on 11 November 2019 on Fisher Street in Point. Police recovered 70 capsules of heroin, mandrax tablets, cash suspected to be the proceeds of drug trade and an unlicensed firearm with 13 rounds of ammunition.

He appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on 12 November 2019 where he was remanded into custody until 27 November 2019. The accused was charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as dealing in drugs.

The suspect is out on bail for a murder charge and he has a number of pending drug cases against him.

Another suspect (26) is appearing in the Durban Magistrates Court after Provincial Firearm and Drug Unit police officers pounced on him inside the premises on Chestnut Crescent in Umbilo. Police recovered 23 packets of cocaine powder. He was charged for dealing in drugs.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi commended police fighting the drug scourge in the province. “We will continue to root out drug trade and drug abuse in our province,” he said.
