A man, believed to be in his 30s, has died after he was found floating in the Duzi River in Alexandra Park, Pietermaritzburg, yesterday afternoon.
ER24 paramedics, along with the SAPS Search and Rescue, arrived on the scene to find the body of a man lying in the river.
The man was retrieved and assessed, finding that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, as well as numerous wounds to his back.
Paramedics immediately initiated CPR and advanced life support interventions. Unfortunately, after 45 minutes, no vital signs returned and the man was declared dead.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
