Dedicated detectives from KwaMashu made a break through when they arrested a 28-year-old wanted suspect. The suspect who was wanted for murder, attempted murder and theft of motor vehicle is expected to appear at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court.

Following an intensive investigation, the suspect was nabbed during his court appearance in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 6 December 2021, for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He was making his second appearance at court, following his arrest on 26 November 2021. During his first appearance on 29 November 2021, the matter was remanded for bail application.

It is alleged that on 15 October 2021, at 19:30, 41-year-old Musawenkosi Zuma and his brother were seated in a vehicle at uThukela Road in C Section, when the pair were involved in a road rage incident with the suspect.

It is alleged that the suspect left the scene and returned with a firearm. He opened fire at the victims before fleeing the scene in their vehicle.

Musawenkosi Zuma sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was conveyed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His brother escaped unharmed.

The matter was reported to KwaMashu police for further investigation. The suspect fled the province when he heard that police were looking for him and went into hiding. He was brought back to KwaZulu-Natal and has been charged for murder, attempted murder and theft of motor vehicle.
