Eshowe Crime Prevention members arrested a 29-year-old suspect for the murder of Sfiso Khumalo (33).
On 19 July 2017 at about 19:00 at Nyanini Reserve in Eshowe, the deceased Khumalo was on his way to the shop together with his girlfriend when they met with the suspect. The suspect asked the deceased to give back what he owes him but the deceased told him that they will talk on the following day.
The deceased and his girlfriend proceeded to where they were going and the suspect also left. On his way back, the deceased met with the suspect and he demanded his money again before stabbing the deceased on the chest and fled the scene.
The deceased sustained injury on the left upper side of the chest. He was rushed to hospital where he was admitted and later succumbed to his injuries.
The matter was then reported to the police and a case of murder was opened at Eshowe police station.
On 20 July 2017, the members arrested the suspect for murder and will appear in the Eshowe Magistrates’ Court on 24 July 2017. A knife believed to be used to kill the deceased was recovered at the scene.
KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa praised the member for arresting the suspect. “We are pleased with the arrest made especially to the crime of this serious nature and commended the members for the co-operation when tackling to newly reported cases,” he said.
