Mtunzini housebreaker arrested with stolen firearms, Chatsworth

A 25 year old suspect is due to appear at the Chatsworth Magistrates Court on 30 August 2019, for being in possession of suspected stolen property as well as for being in illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. He was arrested by police officers from Mtunzini SAPS who were tracking him for his involvement in crimes within their police precinct.

The police officers were following up intelligence with regards to a housebreaking case which was reported in Mtunzini last month. It is alleged that the premises were broken into and firearms as well as other items were taken. A case of housebreaking was opened at Mtunzini police station.

The police officers proceeded to Chatsworth where they identified an informal dwelling that the suspect occupied. The suspect was arrested and items that were taken during the housebreaking at Mtunzini were seized. These items include cell phones, laptop, dollars, a shotgun, a pistol, ammunition and clothing.

Police investigations are continuing.
