Corruption sticks its head into almost every state or semi-state institution.

The latest case was at Umgeni Water, where chief executive officer Cyril Gamede was suspended pending an investigation of alleged corruption.

Eweso, the parliament’s secretary, has been placed on “special” leave after a string of corruption allegations against Gengezi Mgidlana were made.

The trade union Nehawu filed complaints against Gamede and they are not satisfied with the special leave granted, as he is now sitting at home and still receiving a salary.
