An operation to solve Post Office robberies in the KZN Province was conducted by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team assisted by the K9 Unit and Durban Flying Squad on 18 February 2021 and led to the arrest of two men aged 24 and 26.
The arrest followed after robbery incidents that occurred last month at the Post Offices in Montclair, Eshowe and Tongaat. The suspects allegedly used ehailing vehicles to commit the crimes. They have been positively linked to all three cases where undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from Post Offices.
During the arrest two vehicles were seized including three cellphones as well as a replica Z88 pistol. The suspects will be charged for business robbery and will appear in court soon.
