A 52-year-oldd man is in critical condition after he was shot by a disgruntled neighbour during an argument on Flamingo Way in Dawncrest – Verulam on 29 June 2017.

At approximately 16:07 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving several calls from residents in the area reporting multiple gun shots being fired. Upon arrival the injured man was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Paramedics stabilised him on scene before transporting him to hospital in a critical condition. Witnesses reported that the two neighbours had a long standing feud. Today’s incident was sparked over a plastic packet that was lying on the road. During the argument the off duty Metro Policeman drew his firearm and fired approximately 12 rounds at his neighbor. Several of the rounds struck the victims Kia bakkie while one bullet entered the victim’s abdomen and exited through his back.

The Metro Policeman then fled the scene in a white, old model Isuzu bakkie and is currently being sought by authorities.
