Swift reaction by police lead to the arrest of a suspect at Underberg a few minutes after a robbery was committed. Two of the suspects are still at large and police officers are still searching for them. The arrested suspect (39) will appear in the Himeville Magistrate’s Court facing charges of armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On Saturday, 3 November 2018 at 22.30, the victim (34) was at Underberg when he was hired by two clients who requested to be taken to a farm in the area. When they arrived at the farm, the suspects turned against the driver robbed him of his licensed firearm and two cell phones.

The suspects fled the scene in another getaway motor vehicle. Local police and neighbouring stations were alerted of the robbery and started to look for the suspects. The police officers spotted the vehicle in the area and it was chased.

The driver lost control of his vehicle which overturned.

One suspect was arrested whilst two managed to escape. Police officers seized four cellphones, a firearm that was taken from the victim and ammunition. Two of the recovered cellphones were positively identified as that of the victim.

The arrested suspect was charged for armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
