A 34 year old traffic official has been arrested following an alleged bribery scandal. A complainant went to the Mthonjaneni Municipality traffic office in Melmoth to renew her professional driver’s permit (PDP). She was informed that one of her eyes was totally blind. The suspect demanded cash in order to assist her. The matter was reported to the Durban Serious Corruption Investigation team for investigation.
An undercover operation was conducted and the suspect was caught with the cash. The suspect is due to appear in the Melmoth Magistrate’s Court for corruption today.
