At approximately 08:30 on Monday, VIVA Security Solutions Richmond, were called to Victoria Street for a shooting which had occurred.
Armed Reaction officers and emergency medical services were immediately dispatched and on arrival, it was ascertained that a male, believed to be a member of the local municipality, was walking to his vehicle parked off of Victoria Street when he noticed a stationary sedan parked near his vehicle.
Two armed suspects alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on the man, striking him several times, before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased on arrival of paramedics.
The motive for the shooting is unknown. The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and Processing.
