A man was shot and killed during an argument over the recovery of his wife’s vehicle following an accident on Crocodile Road in Waterloo, Verulam on Saturday morning 26 October 2019.

At approximately 01:52 members of Reaction Unit South Africa arrived at the scene of a shooting. The Verulam SAPS were in attendance and had placed an individual under arrest for murder. His licenced 9mm pistol was also seized.

It is alleged that the deceased’s wife was in the process of turning her Hyundai i 20 when she misjudged the width of the driveway and landed on top of a car on a neighboring property. The neighbour used two of his vehicles to block the Hyundai i 20 and prevent anyone from salvaging the vehicle until his damages claim was settled.

The deceased arrived on scene in a Mahindra Bolero and asked that the obstructing vehicles be removed in order for him to tow his wife’s vehicle. An argument broke out when the suspect drew his firearm and shot the deceased in the chest.

The suspect claimed that the deceased attempted to stab him with a knife however the knife was not recovered at the scene.

A case of murder is being investigated.
