Suspects shot and killed a farmer on Friday, March 31 on his farm situated in Glower near Thornville, KwaZulu-Natal.
The group of suspects stabbed Edwin Mapstone (53) and then shot him. His wife Jean was attacked and sustained multiple stab wounds during the assault.
The suspects fled with firearms.
The police and community security responded to the incident, and Jean was transferred to hospital for treatment.
