A 34 year old man was shot and killed during a robbery at an informal settlement known as Sand Pit in Redcliffe, Verulam on Saturday evening 27 July 2019.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene at approximately 19:32 and found the Verulam SAPS in attendance. The body of a man was found on the floor next to his bed. He had sustained at least two gunshot wounds to his head. He was declared dead on arrival of Medics.
It is alleged that the deceased was having drinks with friends when three armed men held them up. The suspects robbed the victims of their cellphones and cash before one the suspects fired multiple shots at the deceased. The gunmen then fled the scene on foot.
A case of murder and armed robbery is being investigated.
