A 30 year old man was shot during a robbery on Promise Road, Phase 7 in Waterloo, Verulam on Sunday 9 September 2018.

At approximately 11:24 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the victim’s home. Upon arrival the 30 year old explained that while walking home from work her was accosted by a man who drew a firearm and asked him to hand over his valuables.

The victim assumed that the firearm was a toy and ignored the suspect’s instructions. The suspect then fired two shots at him. One bullet struck the victim on his left thigh causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect searched the victim and robbed him off his cellphone before he fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim managed to make his way to his home which was a short distance away from where the incident had occurred and contacted RUSA for assistance.

The victim was treated for his injury on scene before he was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Reaction Officers conducted a search for the gunman however he still remains at large.
