A man was killed and an e-hailing driver was injured in a shooting incident in Everest Heights – KZN today (Tuesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a residence on Himalaya Drive at approximately 19:22. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered a man seated on a low wall leaning against a concrete fence. His clothes were blood-soaked. He showed no signs of life and was confirmed deceased.
While attending to the scene, Officers were informed that a white Toyota Rumion with blood stains was abandoned on the corner of Himalaya Drive & Gemini Crescent in Everest Heights – KZN. Members of the Verulam SAPS in KZN were attending to the scene and it was established that the driver was grazed by a bullet.
He explained that he is an e-hailing driver and the deceased was his passenger. Gunmen opened fire on the client as he disembarked from the vehicle outside his home. He was grazed by a stray bullet, but managed to drive off. The motive of the murder has not been established.
Three spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene of the shooting.
