On 8 April 2021, the Provincial Taxi Task Team arrested Zakhele Bhobho Nkosi (32) at Ulundi for the murder of a taxi owner’s wife, Bongi Nhlebela (43). He appeared at the Nongoma Magistrates Court on Friday, 9 April 2021 and was remanded in custody until 19 April 2021, for bail application.

It is alleged that the victim was at her home in Nongoma when Nkosi who was looking for her husband who is a taxi owner accosted her. Nkosi was furious when he did not find the husband and turned the gun on Nhlebela, fatally wounding her.

A murder case was opened at Nongoma and the Provincial Taxi Team took over the investigation.

An intensive investigation led the police to Ulundi where the parolee was hiding. He was arrested and charged for murder.

The parolee was released on 3 March 2021 after serving seven of his 15 years for a robbery sentence. He allegedly killed Nhlebela on 13 March 2021 and went into hiding in Ulundi.
