Man killed at Glebelands hostel, suspect in court

Police officers from the Provincial Task Team arrested Siyabonga Lubabalo Faku (25) for murder. The suspect was arrested while at the Umlazi Magistrates Court attending another case for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and possession of a dangerous weapon.

The suspect was arrested on 25 March 2018 at 02:30 while at the Glebelands Hostel after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and a knife. His case was remanded to 28 June 2018.

It is alleged on 19 May 2018 at 23:30 the victim Mncedisi Ntaka (25) was at a local tavern at Glebelands Hostel when he was stabbed by the suspect. He sustained a stab wound to the throat.

He was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The stabbing appears to be alcohol related. Faku appeared at the Umlazi Magistrates Court this morning and he was remanded in custody until 29 May 2018.
