The swift response by police officers from the Eshowe police station led to the arrest of two men. Police also recovered cellphones belonging to the deceased from one of the suspects on 11 September 2020. The suspects aged 26 and 31 will be charged for murder and arson. They will appear in the Eshowe Magistrates Court on Monday, 14 September 2020.

On 10 September 2020 at 01:30, Eshowe police were alerted about a house that was on fire on Umlalazi Street at King Dinizulu township and proceeded to the place. It is alleged that a 34-year-old male was stabbed, chopped with a bush knife and his house was set alight.

Relatives who saw the house on fire and heard his cries, took him out of the burning house. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A case of murder and arson was opened at the Eshowe police station for investigation. Police immediately began with their investigation which led to the swift arrest of the murderers.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the swift response which led to the arrest of the suspects.
