A 53-year-old man was crossing the Mvoti River on Saturday morning with two other men, when he washed off the low lying bridge. He was last seen floating down the river.
On Sunday and Monday, teams from IPSS Search & Rescue assisted SAPS K9 Search & Rescue from Umhlali and Durban with the search for the missing man. The search was hampered by high water levels and a fast flowing river.
On Monday afternoon, making use of inflatables, K9 Zeus and K9 Ghost were able to positively alert in an area approximately 2km downstream from where the man was last seen.
A short time later, members were able to recover the body of the man, which was then handed over to Glendale SAPS for further investigation.
Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.
