Hawks members in Port Shepstone have arrested Jacket Phancuza (36) for dealing in dagga (cannabis) on Wednesday, 15 February 2017.

Officers received information about a bakkie which was transporting dagga from Eastern Cape to KwaZulu-Natal. An observation was made along the N2 freeway and the said bakkie was spotted near Merlewood. It was stopped and searched, and upon searching 44 bags of dagga were found. The total weight of the seized dagga was 164.4 kilograms with a street value of approximately R493 200-00. Phancuza was immediately arrested.

He appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody. The case was postponed 23 February 2017 for bail application.
