Man (71) hacked to death with a bush knife, 2 arrested, KwaMbonambi

Two men aged 24 and 30 are expected to appear at the KwaMbonambi Magistrates Court on 1 October 2020 for murder. The suspects were arrested by KwaMbonambi detectives two days after the incident.

It is alleged that on 27 September 2020, there was a traditional function in one of the homestead’s at Sokhulu Reserve where Bhekinkosi Ngxongo was one of the attendees.

Ngxongo, 71, left the premises at night, going to his home. Whilst on his way, he was attacked, assaulted and hacked with a bush knife. In the early hours of 28 September 2020, he was found with severe injuries and police were alerted. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A case of murder was opened at KwaMbonambi SAPS. Police commenced their investigation which led to the arrest of the suspects.
