Police officers from the Ladysmith Tactical Response Team and Bergville Visible Policing arrested a murder suspect on the afternoon of 6 September 2019. Police were conducting an operation when they received a tracker signal of a stolen vehicle.
Police proceeded to Emmaus in the Bergville policing precinct where a vehicle was seized from the suspect. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen in March 2019, in the Emashiselweni Reserve where the owner (70) was killed.
The suspect was immediately arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property. He is also facing charges of murder and robbery that were opened at Besters police station.
He will be appearing in court on Monday 9 September 2019.
