KwaZulu-Natal Stock Theft Units are continuing to ensure that stolen livestock is recovered and returned to their rightful owners while stock thieves are arrested. During the month of August 30 stolen livestock were recovered during intelligence driven operations conducted by police officers at the Ladysmith and Utrecht Stock Theft Units.

Detectives at the Ladysmith Stock Theft recovered eleven cattle which were reported stolen to the police at Van Reenen. The operation led the police officers to a farm in the area where they recovered seven cattle and one goat.

A 49 year old suspect was arrested for the possession of the goat. Police Officers from the Utrecht Stock Theft Unit recovered nine cattle and two goats at a farm in the area. The recovered stock was handed over to the lawful owner.
