Thousands of rand worth of Johnnie Walker Whiskey was stolen during an armed robbery at a bottle store in Tongaat, in KZN on Tuesday night 5 May 2020.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the business premises at approximately 17:42 after receiving reports of the robbery. On arrival it was established that four men in a black VW Golf / Polo with registration NPN 14038 drove onto the property, drew firearms and held up the Security Officer.

They then forced their way into the bottle store and stole several bottles of different blends of Johnnie Walker Whiskey. A bolt cutter and other tools used to break into the business were abandoned at the scene. A registration check conducted on the getaway vehicle confirmed that the number plates used belong to a Honda Ballade.

The Security Officer was not injured during the robbery.
