Liquor purchases, residents scammed out thousands of Rand, Verulam

Several Verulam residents have been scammed out of thousands of Rand by an Indian male who assist them in illegally purchasing liquor.

Reaction Unit South Africa responded to several call outs this week after receiving reports of Theft of Cash. In all cases shoppers/motorist were approached by a male who lurks around bottles stores in the CBD.

The suspects offers the victims a list of liquor on sale then takes the order and cash. He then walks to the rear of a bottle store under the pretense of purchasing the liquor and then disappears.
The suspect has been identified as Preolin, an Indian male approx 1.8 m tall, slender in built with an untidy appearance.

No criminals cases have been registered by the complainants as selling/distributing and dispensing liquor is a violation of the Disaster Management Act.
