KwaZulu-Natal – On Friday, 1 July 2016, Durban High Court sentenced Simphiwe Sosibo (37) and Mvuseni Mchunu (47) to life imprisonment plus 15 years each for housebreaking, robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder.

On 11 April 2013, the victim and his family were asleep in their Hillcrest home when they were accosted by the accused. The accused shot at the victim before they ransacked the house. They made off with household appliances and the victim’s belongings as well as their motor vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital where he later died due to his injuries. A case of house robbery and murder was opened at Hillcrest Police Station.

Hawks members worked tirelessly until the suspects were arrested. Members thoroughly investigated the case and presented a well prepared docket before the magistrate. On Wednesday, both accused were convicted and today the Judge handed down their sentences.

Meaning while, last week KwaDukuza High Court convicted and sentenced Msinga Sizwe Ngubane to four life terms imprisonment for murder and 10 counts of attempted murder which happened at Stanger. On 14 January 2015, Mbongeni Ngiba (48) and Mkhulu Khambule (56) were fatally shot by the accused due to taxi related feud between Maphumulo and Stanger Taxi Associations.
