On 28 April 2021, the Hawks members from Durban Serious Corruption Investigation team served court summons to a 49-year-old Warrant Officer who is stationed at Ladysmith police station for alleged fraud.

It is alleged that the police official submitted fraudulent travelling documents to the finance office at Ladysmith police station after he travelled to Pretoria to attend court wherein he falsely stated that he was a witness in a case.

He consequently unduly claimed an amount of R6 200 from the state. A case of fraud was reported and the case docket was allocated to the Hawks for further investigation.

The Warrant Officer is scheduled to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 19 May 2021.
