Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested a 32-year-old suspect for dealing in dagga after he was found in possession of 90 bags of compressed dagga in Dundee on Tuesday evening, 5 August 2025.

Authorities acted on intelligence regarding a vehicle transporting dagga into South Africa from Eswatini via Paulpietersburg. A coordinated effort by the Glencoe K9 Unit, Zululand District Task Team, and Dundee Crime Prevention led to the interception of the suspect.

The vehicle, matching the description provided, was spotted on the R33 Road heading towards Blood River. When police attempted to stop it, the driver sped away, prompting a high-speed chase. Law enforcement officers eventually managed to bring the suspect’s vehicle to a halt in Dundee.

A subsequent search revealed 90 compressed bags of dagga stashed on the passenger seat, back seat, and in the boot. The confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of R4 million.

The suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in dagga. He is set to appear before the Dundee Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 6 August 2025.
