On 1 March 2023, detectives from Margate SAPS acted on information about a man who was in possession of firearms. The team proceeded to a flat in Ramsgate where a 57-year-old man was found in possession of three firearms with 111 rounds of ammunition. He was immediately placed under arrest.

In a separate operation, police officers from the Provincial Special Investigations and Tracking Task Team together with Rapid Rail Police Unit conducted an operation in the KwaMbonambi policing area on 2 March.

The team was following up on information regarding firearms that were in a homestead at Dondotha in KwaMbonambi. Police proceeded to the identified homestead where a 35-year-old man was found in possession of two firearms with two rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was charged for being in unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The UMzinyathi District Task Team conducted an intelligence driven operation at Msinga policing area on 3 March 2023. The team was following up on information regarding a man who was in possession of firearms. Police recovered a pistol and a revolver from the suspect.

A 32-year-old man detained at Umsinga police station for unlawful possession of firearms.

All the arrested suspects are appeared at various Magistrates Courts in the province.
