On 5 September 2020 at 18:00, a 65-year-old Sakhiseni Dlomo was at his homestead at Makhabeleni area of Kranskop where he was attacked by two unknown males who shot at him several times. The deceased was declared dead at the scene. A murder case was opened at Kranskop police station for investigation.

The docket was transferred to Provincial Crime Investigation Services for further investigation.

On 12 February 2021, the members of the Provincial Tracking team and Public order Police deployed at Umzinyathi District conducted an operation at Edakeni area in Kranskop and managed to arrest the 22-year-old suspect.

He was charged for murder and is expected to appear in the Kranskop Magistrates Court.

The Acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thulani Gonya applauded the teams for their great work. “We are pleased that the suspect has been arrested and will face the mighty law. The family will find closure knowing the person who robbed them of their loved one is behind bars,” he said.
