The persistence of the Provincial Task Team detectives to solve the case of murder that was committed in 2015 has led to the successful sentencing of four accused men.

The investigators sent a well prepared docket to court to ensure that the perpetrators face the full might of law. Their hard work was proved in the Pietermaritzburg High Court when the accused were sentenced today, 4 October 2018, after they were convicted three weeks ago.

Musa Tilolo Zondi (35) was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for murder, Thobelani Noh Zondi (33) was sentenced to 18 years for murder, Mzwandile Chamane (29) and Musa Ruff Khumalo (29) were both sentenced to 22 years imprisonment each for murder.

All four accused also received 12 years imprisonment each for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and kidnapping. This sentence emanates from the death of Thandanani Mnomiya (25) who was killed in 2015. His severely battered body was found near the road in Ntunjambili area on the night of 15 February 2015. The deceased was accused of breaking into the family tuck shop where goods were stolen.

He was then questioned and fatally assaulted. A murder case was opened at Kranskop police station and assigned to the Provincial Task Team detectives for further investigation.
